Flock's Original Sokos Hotel Lappee chosen as Sokos Hotel of the Year 2024
At the S Group's MaRa Professionals' Awards Gala in early May, the winners of the past year were celebrated, who have delighted the customers of S Group hotels and restaurants. The Original Sokos Hotel Lappee, designed by Flock, was awarded as the Hotel of the Year 2024.
The renovation of 135 rooms in the Lappee kantaosa was completed on schedule in spring 2023.The concept of the kantaosa consists of two pillars that draw on the area and its history, in a contemporary way. Flock was the main designer of the project, was responsible for the interior design and acted as a partner in the conceptualisation.
The new rooms are themed to respect the local character and feature two different themes. The Paatti rooms are inspired by Saimaa's steamship culture. The Pihka rooms pay homage to the region's strong forest industry, craftsmanship and traditions. Sustainability was strongly present in the choices made for this project, including materials and energy-efficient solutions.
The Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna in Kouvola, designed by Flock, has also received major awards as Hotel of the Year and Meeting Hotel of the Year 2023.In addition, the Vaakuna in Kouvola has been at the top of customer satisfaction surveys and has been selected as Meeting Hotel of the Year in 2019 and 2021.
